Lista include 11 melodii din filmul High School Musical 3: Senior Year, trei din repo! the genetic opera, dar si piesele a doua documentare - They Killed Sister Dorothy si Trouble the Water.
Membrii Academiei Americane de Film, din sectiunea de muzica, vor vota lista finala a nominalizarilor pana pe sase ianuarie.
Pentru a fi eligibila, o melodie trebuie sa contina versuri originale, iar muzica sa fie scrisa special pentru film. Dupa modificarea regulirlor, doar doua cantece ale aceluiasi film pot fi nominalizate.
